JOY MITCHELL

Bethel Springs, TN: Joy Faye Miller Mitchell age 87, passed away November 17, 2025, at her home.

She was born August 31, 1938, in the McNairy Community of McNairy, TN, the daughter of the late Malcolm Royal and Margaret Louise Hooper Miller. She grew up in McNairy and attended school at McNairy and Bethel Springs.

She married Jessie Franklin Mitchell on December 26, 1953. Jessie preceded her in death February 21, 1999. They were married forty-six years.

She worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Selmer, Salant & Salant in Henderson and retired from G.E. in Selmer in November 1998.

She was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in McNairy, TN and served as Sunday School Treasurer and was involved with Senior’s Groups with friends.

She enjoyed sewing for family and friends, all occasion cake decorating, working outside cutting grass and gardening.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two daughters, Donna Carol Mitchell Arnold of Bethel Springs and Kimberly Ann Mitchell Wilkerson of Clarksville, VA; two grandchildren, Dustin Arnold (Chyenne) and Tori Elmore (Daryl Lawson fiancée); four great grandchildren, Willow, Summer, Maddi and Paisley Arnold; a sister, JoAnn Worrell of Joelton, TN; and one grand dog, Scout and one great grand dog, Gemma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jessie Franklin Mitchell, a brother, W.C. Miller and a sister, Robbie Nell Reed.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, November 22nd at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Grady Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery at McNairy.

The family will receive friends at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM service time Saturday.
