Mr. JR Polk, age 83, of Somerville, departed this life Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his home.
A native of Fayette County, he was born March 9, 1932 to Ernest Willie Polk and Pauline Kee Polk, both of whom preceded him in death. He worked for 10 years at Firestone and later retired from M.L. Watkins Body Shop as a mechanic. He married Cleo Ervin Polk on December 29, 1958 and had lived in Fayette County since his retirement. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and NRA and enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. He had an intense love of traveling, being outside, gardening, hunting and fishing, but especially valued his family time. Mr. Polk was a member of Old Enon Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo Ervin Polk; a son, Ernest Randell Polk of Muscle Shoals, AL; a daughter, Trudy Faye Duvall of Moscow; two brothers and their wives, Charles (Willene) Polk of Byhalia and Edward (Doris) Polk of Rossville; five grandchildren, Kerri Watkins, Sheila Hilliard, Shaun Polk, Lori Woods and Adam Polk; and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Holland, Lois Polk and Janice Bagwell. The family requests memorial donations in Mr. Polk's name be made to Old Enon Primitive Baptist Church.
