Julia Nell Hendrix Bobbitt

Julia Nell Hendrix Bobbitt, 74, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at her home in Bolivar, Tennessee, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 22, 1951, in Fayette County, Tennessee, Julia was the daughter of the late Julian Fred and Bernice Culver Hendrix of Whiteville, TN.

A 1969 graduate of Whiteville High School, Julia was known for her love of basketball and her warm, friendly spirit. On November 29, 1969, she and Robert Timothy Bobbitt were united in marriage, beginning a beautiful life together that spanned almost 56 years.

Julia was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She often said her daughter and granddaughter were her greatest blessings and cherished every moment spent with them. She loved traveling—especially to the beach and on cruises—reading, tending to her flowers, and cheering on her granddaughter at sporting events.

Julia devoted much of her life to serving her community through the food service in Hardeman County. She worked as Cafeteria Manager at Whiteville Elementary School, Manager of the Bakery/Deli at Creekmore’s Piggly Wiggly, and taught Culinary Arts at Bolivar Central High School for 25 years. After retirement, she continued to share her love of learning and people while working as a substitute teacher at Middleton Elementary School and lastly working at the Hardeman County Library.

Julia was beloved by her students and colleagues and will always be remembered for her kindness, encouragement, hard work, and dedication. She was especially known for her delicious homemade rolls, cinnamon rolls, and her famous Wednesday luncheons at Bolivar Central High School.

She attended Bolivar Cumberland Presbyterian Church and lived her faith through her generosity and care for others.

Julia is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Robert Timothy Bobbitt of Bolivar; her daughter, Amy Rebecca Robinson (Steve) of Bolivar; her granddaughter, Emma Grace Robinson of Oxford, Mississippi; and her sisters, Shirley Henson (Roger) of Bolivar, Ruby Tosh of Bartlett, Freda Forsythe (Jimmy) of Beech Bluff, Gloria Kelley of Oakland, and Melva Morrison of Beech Bluff. She is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
