Karen Laverne Hallum Melson was born on July 13, 1958, the daughter of JoAnn Baker and the late Walter Lee Hallum. She left this earth on January 14, 2017, at the age of 58 years, 6 months, and 1 day.
Karen was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church. She worked as a cashier at Walmart for 11 years, and loved collecting little music boxes and singing. She was a people person and dearly loved her grandchildren.
Along with her mother, Karen was survived by her daughters, Betty Leeann Lopez of Savannah, Tennessee, Ashley Dawn Stansell of Jackson, Tennessee, and JoAnna Sue Sharp of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, Michael Hallum and wife Wenda, Jimmy Hallum and wife Paula, and Timmy Hallum, all of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Betty Jo Shoemake of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Juan Thao Lopez, Johnathan Javier Lopez, Antonio Gene Lopez, Rianna Lynne Shubert, Andrew James Rivera, Jr., Jaimee Serinus Oyebi, Angel Marie Oyebi, Alysia Nicole Oyebi, and Adrianna Lashae Grady.
Along with her father, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Glenn Hallum; step-father, Brice Nelson Long; and grandparents, Hughie Haskell and Zillie Baker.
