Mary Katherine Williams Parker
July 18, 1943 – December 13, 2016
Mary Katherine Parker, age 73, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 after a brief illness.
She was a member of the Collinwood Church of Christ. She was a 1961 graduate of Wayne County High School and had attended the University of Auburn at Montgomery. Her husband’s career in the construction industry took them to several states and cities throughout the years. Katherine made each new house a home with her decorating skills. They retired and moved back to Wayne County, TN where she designed her dream home. Katherine was a talented artist and had achieved recognition for her work during her lifetime. She was a member of the Alabama Water Color Society. She is known locally for her painting of the Old Depot in Collinwood and her design for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department uniform emblem. Her hobbies were gardening, shopping and decorating. She was a perfectionist and put her heart and soul into any project she took on. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her cats. She was loved and will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Nannie Mae Lawson Williams and father-in-law and mother-in-law Collins and Minnie Pearl Parker. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Jimmy Parker, sons, Myers Parker & wife Lisa and Bennett Parker. Grandchildren, Jessica Parker and fiancé Brandon McDaniel, Jonathan Parker and Whitney Parker, and sister Nancy Gay Luntz.
Serving as pallbearers; Ricky Bryant, Rob Williams, Tim Parker, Darrin Ward, Chris Rich, Ricky Parker, Randy Parker and Mike Parker.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 15 from 6 – 9 pm and Friday, December 16 from 11 am to service time. The service will be Friday at 1:00 pm with Greg Lee and Travis Harmon officiating.
Burial will follow in the Railroad Cemetery in Iron City, Tennessee.
