Kay Pipkin Alsup, a cherished resident of Middleton, Tennessee, was born on June 11, 1937, in Middleton, and departed this world peacefully at home in Middleton on September 26, 2024. Known for her radiant spirit and nurturing heart, Kay embodied the grace of a true Southern lady.
For many years, she proudly considered herself a "domestic engineer," dedicating her life to her family and home. Her talents extended beyond her role at home, as she also cleaned houses professionally for a time, showcasing her commitment to hard work and service. Kay found joy in the simplest of pleasures, notably in her beloved hobbies, which included collecting Elvis memorabilia and tending to her vibrant flower garden. A gifted cook, she delighted in preparing meals for her family, demonstrating her deep love and care with every dish she created.
Kay's heart was expansive; she loved her children and grandchildren with all her being. Her family was her pride and joy, and she often attended their events, celebrating their accomplishments with uncontainable enthusiasm. With 33 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, Kay's legacy will undoubtedly continue to flourish through the lives she touched.
Her faith was also a cornerstone of her life, as she was an active member of Rogers Springs Church of Christ, where she found community and fellowship. Her kindness and warmth endeared her to all who knew her, and everyone spoke highly of her gentle spirit.
She is survived by her loving children: Sherry Letienne and Mo of Savannah, TN, Loretta Sides and Kevin Turnbow of Bolivar, Lisa Garnett and Bobby of Kentucky, Melonie Kiestler of Somerville, Sheena Hill and Billy of Pascagoula, MS, Susan Alsup of Walnut, MS, Wayne Stewart and Debbye of Middleton, Ricky Pipkin of Dover, TN, and Dave Alsup of Atlanta, GA. Kay also leaves behind her beloved sister, Linda Sue Kennamore of Selmer, and a brother, L.C. McKelvey and Margaret of Middleton.
Kay is preceded in death by her devoted parents, Leslie McKelvey and Lilah Maude Foster McKelvey, her sons Danial Stewart, Ira Pipkin, and Kenny Pipkin, as well as a brother, Willard McKelvey, and sister, Irene Rogers. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her former husbands James Stewart, Gilbert Pipkin, and C.D. Alsup.
The visitation for Kay Pipkin Alsup will be held on September 29 and September 30, 2024, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Middleton, followed by a funeral service on September 30. Her interment will occur at Rogers Springs Cemetery, a peaceful resting place where her loved ones can remember her and celebrate her extraordinary life.
Kay’s presence will be deeply missed, but her love, kindness, and legacy will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Rogers Springs Church of Christ or Rogers Springs Cemetery Fund.
