Kay Frances Wilbanks Gray

January 2, 1942 — May 16, 2026

Kay Frances Wilbanks Gray was born in Wayne County on January 2, 1942, to Charlie and Frankie Rich Wilbanks of Lutts, Tennessee.

She was united in marriage to Kenneth Gray, and they had two sons together, Stan and Stacey.

She graduated from Collinwood High School in 1959 and was the salutatorian of her class. During her working years, she was employed at Garan Manufacturing, Country Home Health, and eventually retired from the Hardin County Health Department after 15 years of service. She maintained friendships over the years with many of her coworkers from each job.

She was a faithful member of Sharon Baptist Church and was an active participant with the Senior Ladies’ Sunday School class.

Mrs. Kay enjoyed spending time in her yard, sitting on her porch swing, and baking for friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent many summer days at the nearby community pool with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also especially enjoyed time spent with her extended family in Lutts and looked forward to the Wilbanks Family Reunion each summer.

Mrs. Kay is remembered for her delicious sourdough rolls, kind-hearted spirit, exceptional generosity, and unshakeable faith. All who knew her were blessed by her cheerful and loving nature.

She departed this life on May 16, 2026 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 84.

In addition to her parents Charlie and Frankie Rich Wilbanks, Mrs. Kay is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Gray, and her brothers Robert Wilbanks and Charles Wilbanks.

She is survived by her sons Stan Gray (Sherrie) and Stacey Gray (Melinda). She is also survived by her grandchildren Kaylie Robertson (Derek), Emily Tosh (Nathan), and Ryan Gray; as well as her great-grandchildren Zion Robertson, Elim Robertson, Cana Robertson, Judah Robertson, Shiloh Robertson, Cyprus Robertson, and Noah Tosh. Mrs. Kay is survived by her sister Sue Wilbanks, brother Joe R. Wilbanks, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
