Kay Moore

Finger, TN: Helen Kay Shelton Moore, age 81, passed away Friday evening, May 24, 2024, at Henderson Healthcare.

She was born in Phoenix, AZ and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late Harry Leon Shelton and Madeline Vanada Shelton Teuton.  She graduated from Chester County High School in 1961 and graduated from West Tennessee Business School.  She was executive secretary to the plant manager at American Olean Tile and the Bendix Corporation.  She was an advertising executive at the Commercial Appeal in Memphis until her retirement.

She married Larry Morton; they made their home in Germantown until his death.  She married Dan Moore in 1995.  They made their home in Memphis until 2000 when they moved to the Old Friendship Community.  Mr. Moore preceded in death in 2019.

She was a member of Old Friendship Baptist Church.  She was a very outgoing person.  She loved to entertain family and friends in her home, always open to friends.

She is survived by a sister; Linda Jones of Finger, nephew Travis Jones and wife Shannon and niece Marnie Ward and husband Brad, stepsons Richard Moore of Winchester and Ralph Hughes of Moscow, four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 28^th at Shackelford Funeral Directors -Crook Avenue with Glenn Harris officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue Chapel from 12 noon until service time of 2 pm Tuesday.
