Funeral Services for Keith Spencer will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the chapel of Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar. Visitation is Friday from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday from 12:00 - 3:00 pm.
SEA OF BLUE procession for Deputy Spencer will be 7:00 pm, THURSDAY, October 4, 2018 originating at the Criminal Justice Center in Bolivar.
Mr. Spencer passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Spencer was born in Memphis to the late K. C. and Wilma Bond Spencer and lived most of his life in Hardeman County. He was a US Navy veteran having served his country in Vietnam. Keith was a long-time servant of Hardeman County having been animal control officer at one time and was a deputy with the Sheriff's Department for 10 years.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed being outdoors with the "wind in his face." Along with that came activities like motorcycling, riding ATVs, mowing grass, riding his tractor and camping. Keith particularly enjoyed the fall season of each year and loved to "tinker" with machinery and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie L. Spencer of Bolivar; four daughters, Teresa and Kathy Spencer, both of Oregon, Jessica Spencer of Holland, MI and Sasha Forsythe of Bolivar; three sons, Jason Spencer of Holland, MI, Cord Spencer of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Shawn Barnett of Jacksonville, NC; three sisters, Debbie Anderson and Pam (Juan) Martinez, both of Brownsville, and Cindy (Dennis) Jones of Bolivar; and 14 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Melissa Jones.
