Kenneth C. Layton departed this life on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 17 days. He was born in Counce, Tennessee on September 8, 1940, the son of the late Charles William and Annie Ruth Byrd Layton.
Kenneth received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Tech, where he was a member of Epsilon Sigma. He went on to be a Project Engineer for TRP and Paper Company from 1961-1963 and 1965-1968 and a Chemical Engineer for Kimberly Clark for 31 years. He attended Counce First United Pentecostal Church.
Kenneth was supportive and caring, and had a love for God, family and friends. He never forgot a birthday and was always there for his family. He loved Christmas, nature, flowers and plants, photography, road trips, sightseeing, and dogs, especially his grand dogs, Jake, Elvis, and Cooper. He also enjoyed ice cream, chewing gum, cooking, making bread and smoothies, and dessert. He had a great sense of humor, was health conscious and meticulous. Kenneth took pride in everything he did and had a quest for knowledge. He was the "go to" person if you needed to know something. He stayed up to date on daily events, news, and the stock market. Kenneth enjoyed music of all kinds and was taking Dulcimer lessons. He collected watches and cars. He enjoyed cars of all kind, NASCAR, exotic cars, and fast cars.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Vanessa Schneider of Huntington Beach, California, Beverly Marie Turriff and her husband Brad of Sherwood, Wisconsin, Kenneth Steve Layton of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Johnny Keith Layton of Corona, California, and Thomas Joseph Layton of Bartlett, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda McGivern of Demopolis, Alabama and Carolyn Horton of Corinth, Mississippi; brother, Larry Van Layton of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and mother of his children, Beverly Susan Layton of Bartlett, Tennessee.
