KOTZ A. PATTERSON, III
Henderson, TN: Kotz Alan Patterson, III age 83 passed away Wednesday morning June 24, 2015 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born November 5, 1931 in Florence, AL and grew up in Alabama and Louisiana and Mississippi, the son of the late Kotz Alan Patterson, Jr. and Sadie Dell Nichols Patterson. He went to school in Louisiana and graduated from Ole Miss in 1954 where he received a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and industrial engineering. He married Margie Buchanan in 1953. He worked for U.S. Rubber Company in South Bend, IN for several years and then transferred to Washington, IN. He worked for Salant & Salant in Arkansas while they lived in Memphis, and later with Salant & Salant in Lawrenceburg, TN. They moved to Henderson in 1974 where he was plant manager at Chester Manufacturing. He was owner and operator of KAP III in Henderson from 1983 until he retired in 1998.
He was very active in the Chester County Lions Club having served as King Lion. He was also a Melvin Jones Fellowship recipient in the Lions. Being an Eagle Scout, he was an avid supporter of scouting and had chaired the Boys Scouts Annual fund drive. He had received scouting’s Silver Beaver Award.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, was a Gideon, and was involved with mission work, habitat for humanity, and disaster relief work with local churches.
Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife, Margie Buchanan Patterson of Henderson; a son, Kotz Alan Patterson, IV of Hendersonville, TN and two daughters, Karen Ann Pratt and husband Pepper of Jackson and Dixie Lee Patterson of Newburyport, MA and four grandchildren; William Andrew Patterson, Robert Evan Patterson, Jordan Wesley Pratt and Alexander Bolton Pratt.
Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by his parents, a son, William 'Bill' Patterson in 2008, a brother, Thomas Bell Patterson and a sister, Elsie Jane Tonn.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Dr. Pepper Pratt officiating. Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday.
