L. E. 'Chuck' Melton

Beech Bluff: Lawrence Ellis "Chuck" Melton, 79, died Wednesday, Sept 30, 2009 at his home after losing his battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Betty (Holder) Melton; his son, Chuck Melton; two grandchildren Emma and Adam Melton; and many dear friends and family members.



He was born and raised in Chester County, TN, the son of D.L. and Lilly Thomas Melton. He had 9 siblings, and is survived by two brothers DC (of Selmer) and James (of Morris Chapel).



L.E. worked for Memphis Hardwood Flooring Company for 45 years. He started working for Memphis Hardwood in Memphis, and was later transferred to Granada, MS, where he worked until 1997 and then retired. He was President of Grenada Golf Club for two terms, and a member of the The Lumberman's Club. He had a great passion for golf, and acquired a wonderful skill for woodworking. In 2000 he and Betty built a house in Beech Bluff, TN, and enjoyed working in the garden and taking care of the yard.
