L. D. Kiser

January 22, 1923 — December 12, 2008

L.D. Kiser was born Jan. 22, 1923, the fifth of thirteen children, born to Dee and Olga Sweatt Kiser. He departed this life on Fri., Dec. 12, 2008 following a long recuperation from surgery and complications. L.D. leaves a wife, Myrtle White Kiser of Selmer TN; a daughter, Martha Lynn Holt and husband Danny of Savannah TN; a son, J.D. Matlock and wife Brenda of Selmer, TN; and a daughter, Jackie Simpson and husband Paul of Selmer, TN. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Melody Irene Holt, Daniel Ray Holt, Adam Simpson, Amber Phegley, Sallie Bodiford, Delise Russell, Elizabeth Matlock and Jana Rae' Matlock and sixteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Ruby Whitaker, Vallie Helton and Maylene Nold. He was preceded in death by father Dee Kiser, wife Irene Miller Kiser, mother Olga Sweatt Kiser, brothers and sisters R.A. Kiser, Raymond Kiser, Wilford Kiser, Laverne Knight, Vestie Dancer, Alford Kiser, Lockie Williams, Flaye Moore, and Dennie Kiser and a grandson Eddie Simpson.



L.D. Served in the United States Army from 1943-1946. He worked for the McNairy Co. Highway Dept. from 1946- 1962. He then worked for Uther Davidson's Construction Co. in Jackson, TN as a heavy equipment operator from 1962 until his retirement in 1985.



L.D. was a member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer. He loved his family, God, his country and bluegrass music and enjoyed playing guitar and mandolin. He is survived by a host of family, friends, and bluegrass buddies.





Pallbearers will be Daniel Ray Holt, Mike Knight, Herbert Kiser, Duke Whitaker, Larry Whitaker and Buck Kiser. Honorary pallbearers will be Lou Craig, Johnny Head, Danny Ray Holt and Charles Ellis.
