Obituary

Larry D. Coleman was born on April 11, 1948, in Fresno, California, the son of the late Clayton Coleman and Lois Bates Coleman.

On December 3, 1976, he married the love of his life, Shirley Coleman. Together they shared nearly fifty years of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Mrs. Coleman preceded him in death on May 13, 2026.

Larry was a hardworking man who spent many years as a butcher in local grocery stores before managing the warehouse at Monogram Refrigeration. Even after retirement, he continued serving others through his work at the Developmental Center and the local library.

A proud United States Army veteran, Larry carried a strong sense of duty and dedication throughout his life.

Family was the center of Larry's world. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Whether cooking a favorite meal, sharing stories, or simply enjoying their company, he created memories that will be forever cherished. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves, and enjoyed attending auctions and yard sales. Above all, he deeply loved and adored his wife, Shirley.

Mr. Coleman departed this life on June 8, 2026, in Tupelo, Mississippi, at the age of 78 years, 1 month, and 28 days.

He is survived by three sons, Larry Paul Coleman and wife Elizabeth of Selmer, Tennessee, Justin M. Coleman and wife Amber of Selmer, Tennessee, and Larry Patrick Coleman of Jacksboro, Tennessee; a daughter, Margie Grubb of Barbourville, Kentucky; ten grandchildren: Matthew Tyner Coleman and wife Paizlee, Michael Paul Coleman, Jayden Bradley Coleman, and John Luke Coleman, all of Selmer, Tennessee; Hannah Elizabeth Brown and husband Zane of Jackson, Tennessee; Jeremiah Coleman, Conner Coleman, and Caleb Coleman, all of Jacksboro, Tennessee; and Dalton Grubb and Tessa Grubb, both of Barbourville, Kentucky; two sisters, Claudina Sears of Booneville, Arkansas, and June Trull and husband Thomas of Lobelville, Tennessee; a brother, Michael Coleman and wife Shelly of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Scott Coleman, and a sister, Geraldine Coleman.

Larry will be remembered for his loving heart, his devotion to family, and the quiet kindness he showed throughout his life. The memories he created, the meals he shared, and the love he gave so freely will remain treasured by all who knew and loved him.
