Mr. Hammons passed away Thursday evening, February 17, 2011 at Bolivar General Hospital.
He was born September 8, 1945 in La Grange, son of the late James Wilburn Hammons and Ona Mae Capshaw Hammons. Mr. Hammons was self employed as a sand blaster and painter and had worked for Harmon Automotive for 30 years. He was a member of the Saulsbury Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Lynn Hammons; two daughters and their husbands, Michelle Watkins and Billy of Saulsbury and Shannon Gatewood and Todd of Cordova; five grandchildren, Tracy, Thomas and Tyler Watkins and Merry Ashlyn and Grayson Gatewood; one great grandchild, Zachary Watkins; six sisters and their husbands, Betty Stewart and Ronald, Shirley Clifft and Ted, Donnis Lake and Barry and Brenda Mooney and Larry, all of Hickory Valley, Linda Tinch and Winton of LaFollette and Wanda Rodgers and Billy of Rossville; and two brothers and their wives, Phillip Hammons and Deborah of Bolivar and Doug Hammons and Tammie of Hickory Valley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Patrice Hammons.
