He was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Coy and Sibbie Marie Weaver Isbell. He graduated Chester County High School in 1961. As a young man he worked at Brown Shoe Company and for the past forty one years he worked as a tie buyer for Kerr McGee for seven years and then the past thirty five years for Koppers. He continued to farm and raise cattle at his home. He was member of the Woodman of the World Lodge 78 at Selmer. He was a member of the Old Friendship Baptist Church.
He was married to Barbara Foster of Baldwin, MS in 1997 and they made their home at Timber Hills south of Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Foster Isbell; two sons, Bryan Isbell and wife Debbie of Henderson and Brad Isbell and wife Melisia of Lexington; two step daughters, Susan McBrayer of Baldwin, MS and Tracy Walden of Baldwin, MS; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Don Isbell of Greenbrier, TN and Coy Isbell, Jr. of Paris, TN and two sisters, Ruth Roberts of Eads, TN and Carolyn Drummond of Springfield, IL.
