Obituary

Larry Wayne Jenkins, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, went to his heavenly home on April 9, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on December 5, 1963, in Selmer, he was the son of F.R. and Charlene Jenkins.

He was united in marriage on October 17, 1987, to his loving wife, Lisa Joyce Wood Jenkins.

From a very young age, Larry knew what hard work and dedication was about. After graduating from McNairy Central, he and his father, F.R., were the proud owners and operators of Jenkins Construction. He farmed, raised hogs and grew pumpkins. He was the co-owner along with his father, of J&J Campground. He later finished his career as the assistant superintendent at the Hardin County Highway Department.

When Larry wasn’t working, you could find him doing what he loved, fishing on the water or hunting in the woods. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren all about the outdoors. You could always find him in his shop piddling on the next project.

Larry was a very dedicated Christian man. He was a member at Center Hill Baptist Church, where he loved all his church family.

Those left to honor his memory is his wife of 38 years Lisa Jenkins; son, Cody Jenkins (Ashley) and daughter, Paige McCann; his grandchildren, Noah Bain, Fisher McCann, James Henry Jenkins and Autumn Jenkins; sister, Mary Cone (Freddie); sisters-in-law, Sherry Rogers and Stacy Hunt; brothers- in-law, Craig Wood and Tracy Wood; nieces and nephews, Hope Gray (Jeremy), Chuck Jenkins, Fallon Savko (Jay), Tiffany Wood, and Tyler Rogers (Harleigh). He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and family members.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hannah Brooke Jenkins; his parents, F.R. and Charlene Jenkins; his brother, Charles Jenkins; his paternal grandparents, Henry and Hazel Jenkins; his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Liz Parrish; and his mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Joyce Wood.
