Larry Wayne Nerren

Mr. Larry Wayne "Pee Wee" Nerren, age 61 of Bolivar, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Bolivar General Hospital.



He was born in Jackson February 5, 1951 to Louise Nerren of Mercer, who survives, and the late Harold Nerren. A 1969 graduate of Southside High School, he was raised in Mercer and obtained his Associate of Arts degree from Jackson State Community College in 1972. He married Betty Lax Nerren, who survives, September 3, 1971, the same year he moved to Bolivar. He worked for 11 years at Black and Decker, now known as DeVilbiss, and at Harmon Automotive from 1972 to 1998.



In the early 1960s, he was baptized at Mercer Baptist Church where he was a lifelong member. He was very active as a baseball coach with Dixie Youth Baseball in Bolivar and was a golfer and volunteer at the Hardeman County Golf & Country Club. He also played softball for the Bolivar First Baptist Church. His favorite pastimes included traveling and spending time at the beach, particularly entertaining friends at his beach house in Seagrove Beach, Florida.



Mr. Nerren lived long enough to see his first grandchild, Mason Wayne Nerren, born May 26, 2012. He cared for his family more than anything else.



In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves as his survivors a daughter, Ginny Nerren Stalker and husband Jack Ryan of Nashville; a son, Casey Wayne Nerren and wife Lisa Stamm of Bartlett; a brother, Harold Nerren of Jackson; a sister, Linda Murley of Jackson; three first cousins, Lisa Daniel of Mercer, Susie Hardee of Jackson, and Kathy Seaton of Humboldt; and one grandchild, Mason Wayne Nerren.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9 at Mercer Baptist Church with Tim Bass, Pastor at Mercer Baptist, officiating and Billy Joe King, organist, and David Lucius, Minister of Music, serving as musicians. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. before the service.



Burial will take place in the family plot at Mercer Baptist Church Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers include Tim Bobbitt, Johnny Ray Anthony, Mike Moore, Sammy Overton, Phil Hammons, Chris Bell, Josh Bomar and Richard Hazelwood.



Memorials may be sent to the Mercer Baptist Church or to the Tyler Bomar Scholarship Fund at CB&S Bank in Bolivar.
