LATASHA PHILLIPS
Jacks Creek, TN: LaTasha Ann Wright Phillips age 60 passed away Thursday January 5, 2017 at her home.
She was born August 6, 1956 in Madison County and reared at Jacks Creek, the daughter of the late Worth and Ruby Eunice Nobles Wright. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1974 as Valedictorian of her class, graduated from Lambuth with honors in 1977 and received her Master’s Degree in elementary education from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
She married Dennis Phillips in 1979 and they made their home at Jacks Creek. She started her teaching career in 1977, teaching kindergarten for eighteen years, special education for two years, and served as principal and computer instructor for thirteen years. She retired in 2010 and worked part-time until recently. She had taught adult education at the technology center in Henderson. While she was at Jacks Creek they received The Federal Blue Ribbon awarded in 2007. She was a member of the Chester County Teachers Association, Tennessee Teachers Association and the National Teachers Association.
She was a member of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church. She played the piano for over forty years, at Jacks Creek and Holly Springs. She always volunteered for fundraisers at the Jacks Creek Fire Department.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband, Dennis E. Phillips; a son, Nick Phillips and wife April and a daughter, Teisha Nichols and husband Carl all of Jacks Creek and a brother, Nathan Wright and wife Becky of Henderson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Bill Evans and Nathan Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 4:00 PM on Friday.
