Laura Louree Geno Steele was born September 9, 1925 in Jumpertown, Mississippi the daughter of the late Dewitt Geno and Ethel Eaton Geno Moore.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth Steele on April 18, 1944. Mr. Steele preceded her in death on July 7, 1997, after 53 years of marriage.
At 16, Mrs. Steele worked as a welder in the shipyards of Biloxi, MS. She also worked as a waitress in Biloxi, and as a spot-welder for Western Electric in Chicago, IL prior to opening Steele Antiques with her husband Kenneth, which they operated for approximately 45 years. She was also a member of the Finger church of Christ.
Mrs. Steele departed this life on November 10, 2009 in Henderson, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 2 Months, 1 Day. She is survived by a daughter, Paulette Stout and husband Donald of Bethel Springs, TN; two sons, Ronnie Kenneth Steele of Bethel Springs, TN and Ricky Lynn Steele of Selmer, TN; five grandchildren: Debbie Kiser, Peggy Martin, Regina Steele, Joshua Steele, and Lauren Steele; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Veona Harris of Booneville, MS; a brother, Coe Moore and wife Ruby of Booneville, MS; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Geno Steele and Jade Steele; two sisters, Aurola Harris and Lillie Ruth Geno; and three brothers, J. C. Geno, Feak Geno, and Don Geno.
