Laverne Clayton

Laverne S Clayton,87, formerly of Collierville, TN, passed away March 3, 2024, with her son Marc at her side at Magnolia Place New Albany.

She was born to the late Charlie Marcus and Sarah Belle Shearin, December 29, 1936, in Saulsbury, TN.

Mrs. Clayton is a mother to three children G. Daryl Weathers (Brent) of Etta, MS; Melissa W. Kinard (Russell) of Henderson, TN; and A. Marcus Weathers (Regina) of New Albany, MS; grandmother to thirteen Baylor and Brooklyn Weathers of Etta, MS; Technical Sgt Jarrod Kinard USAF (Ashley) of San Antonio, TX, Rachel Kinard of Henderson, TN; Madison K. Hensley (Nick) of Miami, FL; Paige Treadaway (Joe) of New Albany, MS; Laken Hall (Easton) of New Albany, MS; Chance Weathers (fiancé Riley) of New Albany, MS; Stormy Weathers of New Albany, MS; Tristan Weathers of New Albany, MS; Courtney and Brittany Guin of New Albany, MS; Jacob Guin (Sarah) of Mantachie, MS; and eight great-grandchildren Sawyer and Silas Treadaway; Swayze, Rigley, and Posey Hall; Shay and Shire Hensley and Riddley Guin.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Clayton, her sisters Mildred S. Cossar, and Evelyn S. Coleman. She is survived by a sister Peggy S. Garner.

Mrs. Clayton loved God. She participated in her church choir and VBS. After health issues prevented her from actively performing with the choir she said she couldn’t wait to sing in the heavenly choir.

The visitation and services will be held at Fisherville Baptist Church in Fisherville TN on Thursday. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
