LAVON W. JONES
Jacks Creek, TN: Lavon White Jones age 90 passed away Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2016 at her home on Roby Road.
She was born June 27, 1926 in Decatur County, the daughter of the late Floyd and Martha E. Martin White. She attended school in Scotts Hills and was married to Kenneth Jones on September 12, 1943. She was employed in an ammunition plant in Memphis during WWII and later as a seamstress at several garment factories but worked the majority of the her time at Scotts Hill. She was a member of the Pentecostal Lighthouse at Reagan. She had served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Mrs. Jones is survived by two daughters, Ann Benjamin of Alliance, OH and Kayron Parker and husband Tom of Jacks Creek and three sons, Donald Jones (Loretta) of Jacks Creek, Warren Jones (Freeda) of Henderson and Darrell Jones (Debbie) of Jacks Creek; thirteen Grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a sister, Kathleen Freeman of Rogers, AR and four brothers, Carl White, Joe White (Mary Alice) and Wayne White (Shelia) all of Scotts Hill and Mike White of Reagan, a special friend, Cleatus Wade and a very special caregiver, her granddaughter, Brandi Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth B. Jones; a sister, Ramelle Lomax and a brother, Robert White.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Donald Jones, Clifford Stone and Bobby Beecham officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Hill Cemetery in Henderson County, TN.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 5 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday.
