Lavonia "Maw" Goings departed this life on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the age of 83 years, 4 months, and 11 days. She was born in Dodge County, Georgia the daughter of the late Joe and Gladys Yawn Evans. On January 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to Curtis Tillman Goings, who preceded her in death on March 8, 1999.
Lavonia had lived in the Walnut Grove Community since 1982 and always looked forward to going to church at Walnut Grove Church of Christ. She was a strong Christian woman who loved God and served Him. She always put God and her family first. She loved her family and spending time with them. She loved life and was full of love and laughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Benson and husband Tommy of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Rocky Wade Benson and wife Natasha and Rusty Earl Benson and wife Dallas, all of Savannah, Tennessee, Stephanie Goings and Teresa Goings, both of Port St. Lucie, Florida; great-grandchildren, Braxton Kyle Benson and Kaydence Faith Benson; and brother, Billy Evans and wife Kathy of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger Dale Goings; granddaughter, Melissa Laine Benson; and brother, Ronald Evans.
