L.D. Irvin departed this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 4 days. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee, on January 13, 1934, the son of the late Lige Dan and Ida Beatrice Franks Irvin. On March 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Young, who preceded him in death on September 18, 2008.
L.D. was a veteran of the US Army. He had worked for Neill Builders as a carpenter and was a member of the Plummers Chapel Church in Savannah, Tennessee. In his spare time, he enjoyed singing, fishing, hunting, and playing Dominoes.
He is survived by his children, Teresa Thorne and her husband Bill, Deanna Ford and her husband David, Kim Jerrolds and her husband Barry, and Danny Irvin and his wife Sherry, all of Savannah, Tennessee; a son in law, Kenneth Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; a sister, Jewel White of Savannah, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Andrea Casteel, Candace Weirich, Billy Thorne, Justin Franks, Wade Ford, Kristie Pinson, D. J. Irvin, Abby Jerrolds and Josh Jerrolds; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, L.D. was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Franks; brothers, Walter Irvin and Andy Jack Irvin; and sisters, Ruie Reynolds and Hazel Baugus.
