Leon Brock

December 7, 1936 — June 24, 2024

Leon Brock, 87, passed from this life Monday, June 24, 2024, at Bolivar General Hospital.

Born in Bells, TN, he was  the son of the late John William Brock and Lois Pamelia Jacobs Brock and married Lee Wiggins, who survives, on May 30, 1969.  They had two sons, Jeremy Brock and Stephen Brock, both of Hickory Valley.

Mr. Brock was retired from Harmon Automotive after thirty years as manager of the cost estimating department.  He also served as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service for sixteen years and was owner and operator of Brocks Bookkeeping and Income Tax Service, and a member of the  Tennessee Association of Accountants.

He was a member of West Memorial Baptist Church, for many decades, where he served as the treasurer and financial secretary.  Mr. Brock proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard for eight years as a Staff Sargent (E-5). As part of his community, he served on the Board of Directors for the Hardeman County Community Health Center, worked for the Literacy Council, and was a leader and committee member for the Boy Scouts of America.

He attended Hickory Valley school and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1959. Later in life he attended Jackson State Community College, Whiteville Vocational Tech, and West Tennessee Business College. He enjoyed country and gospel music and watching old Western TV shows. Gunsmoke was his favorite. He farmed with his father and brothers for many years in the Van Buren community.  He loved being on his tractor, mowing, and gardening, growing many vegetables and fruits and was especially proud of his Better Boy tomatoes which he loved to share with family and friends.

He leaves behind his wife, two sons, and his sister Louise Merrick.  He is preceded in death by his parents and step-mother Opal Brock. His brothers Harold Brock, Marvin Brock and Donnie Maddox. His sisters Sue Moore, Mildred Jenkins and Reba Brock.

Officiating the service was Bro. Taylor Chase, pastor of West Memorial, and assisted by Bro. Bob Gibson, and Chaplin Shawn Beasley.  The music was provided by  Stephen Wood, Angie Phelps and Glenn Leath.  The pallbearers for his service will be Sam Ashford, Andrew Tigner, Aaron Tigner, Mark Baker, John Thomas Crouse, Lynn Cossar.
