Leon Murray

Leon Murray, 89, of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on August 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Leon was born on January 24, 1937, in Bethel Springs, Tennessee, to the late Russell Lee and Odessa Barnes Murray. He was a man of strong character, a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for the ones he loved.

On December 22, 1962, Leon married the love of his life, Louise Floyd. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage, building a lifetime of memories, love, laughter, and family. Their enduring love was a beautiful testament to the life they shared together.

Leon was a man who believed in the value of hard work. He was the proud owner of Murray's Vinyl Siding for 28 years and continued working until he was 78 years old. Over the years, he worked on the pipeline alongside his brother and best friend, Lodis, as well as at Brown Shoe Company, in home construction, on Dr. Peeler's farm, and as a building maintenance man. Whatever work was before him, Leon gave it his all. He was happiest with the sunshine on his face and a day's work in front of him.

His life was about more than work, though. Leon found joy in the simple things and in making memories with the people he loved. He attended Good Hope Baptist Church and had a lifelong appreciation for antique cars. He proudly collected several, including a 1963 Impala, a 1948 Chevrolet pickup, a 1947 Dodge pickup, and a 1952 Pontiac. He loved attending car shows, working in his garden, watching westerns, taking family trips, and riding motorcycles with Louise. These were the moments that filled his days with happiness.

Above all, Leon loved his family. His greatest legacy will not be the work he accomplished or the things he collected, but the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind. His family will forever remember his hardworking hands, his love of the outdoors, his quiet strength, and the countless ways he showed them that family always comes first.

Leon is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Louise Murray of Bethel Springs, TN; his son, Eddie Murray and wife, Stacey, of Henderson, TN; his daughter, LeAnne McDaniel and husband, Keith, of Adamsville, TN; his grandsons, Kyle McDaniel and wife, Emily, Kameron McDaniel and wife, Courtney, Logan Murray and wife, Hailey, and Hunter Williamson; his great-grandchildren, EllaRae, Mila, Abby, Landry, Dawson, Miles, and Jace; and his sister, Sheila Kiestler and husband, Joe of Jackson, TN.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Lodis Murray; and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Price.

Leon leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will be cherished by his family and all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family can find comfort in knowing that his love, his example, and the memories they shared will remain in their hearts forever.

He may no longer be here to enjoy the sunshine on his face, work with his hands, or take a ride with Louise, but the life he lived and the love he gave will never be forgotten.

The family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to family friend, Teresa Lester, for the love, kindness, and countless ways she cared for Leon and supported our family.

The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Legacy Hospice, Dr. Nick Treece, and the nurses and staff who provided such compassionate care and comfort to Leon and his family. A special thank you to Kara Leigh, Delana, Lexi, Chiquita, and Leslie for the kindness, dedication, and loving care they showed throughout this journey. Your support brought comfort during difficult days and will always be remembered with deep appreciation.
