Leona B. Edwards

Leona Riff Edwards, 77, of Morris Chapel, died on Monday, Feb. 27, at Savannah Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Nowata County, Oklahoma, on July 6, 1939, daughter to the late Gilbert and Calla Beal Riff. She was united in marriage to James Cole Edwards on July 3, 1959, in Humboldt, Tennessee.

Mrs. Edwards was sharp with numbers and had been a bookkeeper and office manager at Metro Machinery and Southern Electric, both located in Memphis. She had also been a teacher for several years at Memphis Junior Academy.
She was a member of Savannah Seventh-day Adventist Church. She had been the treasurer at the church for many years, and previously was treasurer at Somerville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She and her husband devoted many years to dog rescue in Hardin County.
In addition to several places in Tennessee, she had lived in Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Georgia and England.

In addition to her husband James of Morris Chapel, she is survived by three children, Linda Jo Edwards and fiancé Tam White of Adamsville, Bob (Lisa) Edwards of Chattanooga, and Gerald (Janet) Edwards of Tehachapi, California; grandchildren, Ginda (Andrew) Folkerts, Zack Folkerts, Robert Edwards, Jon (Cookie) Edwards, Keri (Billy) Haynes, Brad (Andrea) Edwards, Katie Edwards, Kristin (Alan) Ward, Alex Edwards, Tyler Edwards, Joseph Edwards, Kaylee Joy Edwards, Kelson Edwards, Kaden Edwards, Josh Edwards and Amanda Edwards; great-grandchildren, Sky, Harper, Isaiah, AJ, Samantha, and a great-grandson due in March; siblings, Juanita Cochrun of Texas, Alfred Riff of Missouri, Jim Riff of Texas and Donna Hults of Oklahoma.

She was also preceded in death by siblings, Fayrene Attebury, Roland Riff, Violet Bates, Madeline Scott, Gene Riff and Doris Larmore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hardin County Animal Services, 140 Legion Road, Savannah.
