LESSIE HIGHLANDwas born in Hardin County, Tennessee on January 18, 1938 daughter of the late Ben Noah and Ella Augusta Franklin Cox.On February 4, 1957 she was united in marriage to James Rueben Highland.Mrs. Highland was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of Christ. She was an Art Teacher at the Walnut Grove School. She had also worked as a seamstress for Kay Windsor Company and enjoyed her flower gardening and cake decorating.Mrs. Highland departed this life on January 25, 2010 at the Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 72 years and 7 days.She leaves her husband James Rueben Highland of Savannah, Tennessee.2 daughters - Karen and Connie Highland both of Savannah, Tennessee.1 granddaughter - Amber Dawn DeShazier and 1 great granddaughter - Ambria Grace DeShazier.3 sisters - Maggie Myrtle Nichols of Elkhart, Indiana, Laverne Johnson also of Elkhart, Indiana and Shelia Dianne Cox of Savannah, Tennessee.2 brothers - James Oscar Cox of Central, Alabama and Glen Cox of Savannah, Tennessee.Mrs. Highland was preceded in death by 1 son Christopher Wade Highland, one sister Priscilla Cox and 3 brothers Charles Cox, Floyd Cox and Boyd Cox.
