Leva White was born on August 9, 1928 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Polk English "P.E" White and Lillian Agnes Hodge White.
Leva grew up in the Grassy Creek Community in Wayne County, Tennessee. She later moved to Florence, Alabama to attend college at the University of North Alabama. She retired from the Florence Police Department where she worked as a secretary. After her retirement from the police department, Leva would continue to work as a secretary at an assisted living facility and nursing home as well as working for Walmart before retiring for the second time. She was one of the oldest members of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, Alabama and enjoyed attending church functions. Leva also enjoyed gardening and tending to her yard. She was proud to say she even mowed her own yard until she had to go live in the nursing home.
Leva White departed this life on July 3, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 95 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Joyce White Wright of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; nieces, Pam White, Carol Sue Brown, Valarie Dale Stevens, Carrie Lynn Messer, and Kay White; nephews, Chris White, Randy White, and Michael White; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Leva was preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Earl White, Ima Pauline White Newman, and Virginia Nell White Hardiman; brothers, James Boyd White, Lawrence Aaron "Short" White, and Johnny Fay White; and brothers in law, Carl Newman and W.L. Wright.
