Lidia Haygood Stewart Evans

Lidia Haygood Stewart Evans, 81, of Middleton, passed away Tues., August 8th at her home in Middleton.  Private services will be held at a later date.

She was born Sunday, March 29, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, daughter of the late Noah Franklin Haygood and Pearlie Mardis Haygood and lived in Ripley, MS prior to moving to Hardeman County 30 years ago. She married James Irby Evans in December of 1996 and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2021.  Mrs. Evans was a homemaker.

Survivors include her children, Gail Barber of Falkner, MS, Vicki McClaughlin of Middleton, Brenda Lee Stewart of Wapapella, MO and Marlin Stewart of Alabama; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys  Winkles, 4 brothers, Ford,  Tulin, Wilmer and Jr. Haygood and a son, Carl Franklin Stewart.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/donate).
