Linda Lou Fry, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of grace, devotion, and timeless elegance. Born on March 13, 1936, in Leapwood, Tennessee, to Waldo Baxter Davis and Mary Inez Dallas Davis, Linda grew up in McNairy County and attended Leapwood High School. Early in life, she attended beautician school, which sparked a lifelong passion for style. She was always perfectly put together, and her regular trips to the salon for her hair and nails remained a vital and joyful part of her routine throughout her entire life.
Linda dedicated much of her life to being a nurturing homemaker for her children, Steve and Valerie, in Memphis, Tennessee. In addition to caring for her family, she was a hard worker who held positions at several local businesses, including Firestone, and successfully managed a dry-cleaning company. Linda possessed a vibrant green thumb and loved gardening of all types, frequently taking cuttings and young plants to her extended family members to brighten their own yards. While she was active in her younger years, later in life Linda found her greatest peace and happiness simply staying in the comfort of her own home. She was married to Robert Fry, who preceded her in death in November 2017. Following Robert's passing, Linda struggled deeply with the loss, prompting her son Steve to move back home from Florida to become her dedicated caregiver.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Fry; and her siblings, Hardy Davis, John Davis, Don Davis, Lila Duffy, and Martha May. She shared an exceptionally close bond with her sister Martha, who called regularly to check on her, and Linda carried a heavy heart following Martha's passing just a few months ago. Her memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family: her son, Steve Smith of Memphis, TN; her daughter, Valerie Alexander of Memphis, TN; her grandchildren, Lindsay Grashorn and her husband Justin of Papillion, NE, Kristen Garrison of Omaha, NE, and Stephanie Houloose of Papillion, NE; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Easton and Beckam Grashorn, and Levi and Keeleigh Garrison. Linda’s beautiful spirit, dedication to her family, and elegant presence will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
