Linda Kay Ward, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, was born on March 3, 1944, in Selmer, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Frances Bell Gray.
On March 12, 1962, Linda united in marriage with her soulmate, Billy Ward, who passed away on November 13, 2017.
Linda's journey through life was marked by her dedication and passion. She pursued her education at West Tennessee Business College and the School of Cosmetology, working for five years as a talented cosmetologist before taking on the role of office manager at an insurance company for an impressive thirty-five years. Her professionalism and caring nature touched many lives.
Creativity flowed through Linda, revealing itself in her impressive crafting skills. Whether it was painting, decorating, crocheting, creating ceramics, or sewing, her hands seemed to work magic. Also an excellent cook, she provided delicious meals that brought loved ones together, always finding joy in hosting family gatherings.
A true family person, Linda relished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her unwavering love and support extended beyond her immediate family. She was a member of North Jackson Baptist Church, where she found community and strength in her faith.
On November 21, 2025, at the age of 81, Linda departed this life at her home in Selmer, TN. She leaves behind two loving sons, Jeff Ward and wife Laura of Lexington, TN, and David Ward of Selmer, TN; two sisters, Shirley Qualls and Jackie Cooksey, both of Selmer; three adored grandchildren, Cameron Ward (and wife Destiny) of Cookeville, Zachary Ward (and wife Kaitlynn) of Kenton, TN and Alayna Ward of Selmer, TN; along with two great-grandchildren and two nieces, Lisa Graham and Lee Ann Gill both of Selmer.
In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Janet McCann. Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
