LOIS ARMOUR
Helen Lois Adams Armour left her earthly home on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
She was born March 14, 1937, in Burbank, California, to parents George Maxey and Odris Zu Adams.
In 1954, she met and married Lionel Joe Armour, who was in the United States Air Force, in Amarillo, Texas. They made their home in Henderson, Tennessee, where Mr. Armour was a Ranger and later Superintendent at Chickasaw State Park. Mrs. Armour also worked at the park as a secretary beginning in the 1960s. She loved Chickasaw State Park and considered it her home, as the family lived there until Mr. Armour’s death in 1969. She retired from the park as a Clerk 2 in 2014.
She loved her family and looked forward to holidays when they were all together. She enjoyed watching movies and game shows, playing Yahtzee with her family, and eating Little Debbie Cakes.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Armour; a daughter, Mickey Jo Armour, who died of SIDS in 1962; her parents, George and Odris Adams; a sister, Joanne Adams; and two brothers, Ray Adams and Jim Butler. She was extremely close to her husband’s family and considered them HER family. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Pat and Robbie Duley Armour; two brothers-in-law, Tim Armour and Jimmy White; and a sister-in-law, Patty Armour Higginbottom.
She is survived by two brothers-in-law, Bobby Len Armour and wife Doris, and Bo Higginbottom; a sister-in-law, Doris Armour White; her daughters, Kakki Armour Bird and husband Darrell, Janeane Armour Moore and husband Bob, and Monica Armour Meeks; grandchildren, Tyler Knipper, Brian Knipper, Jacob Moore and wife Allison, Jordan Moore Howard and husband Jeremy, Brock Meeks, Brianna Meeks, and Amy Horton; and great-grandchildren, Coleton Knipper, Rowan Knipper, Kayleigh Sikes, Nathan Howard, Rory Moore and Emmy Moore; several nephews and nieces; and her best friend, her sister-in-law, Judy Butler.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Tyler Knipper, Brian Knipper, and Jacob Moore, great-grandson Coleton Knipper, and nephews Donnie Durrance and Phillip White.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 28th at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Crook Avenue with Troy Kilzer II and Janeane Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time Friday.
