Gail Wilson, a beloved member of her community and cherished family matriarch, passed away on May 23, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee just a few hours before her precious husband, Clea Wilson, passed away in Memphis. Born on April 1, 1949, in Hardeman County, Tennessee, she lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family, faith, and the simple pleasures that brought her joy.
For over 30 years, Gail devoted herself to her career, owning a convenient store, Community Convience, where her friendly smile and warm demeanor made her a familiar face to many patrons. She retired with pride, having built a legacy of service and kindness throughout her working years.
Gail was a member of New Union Baptist Church, where she found strength and solace in her faith. Her church family was an integral part of her life, and the connections she made there were a source of great comfort and strength.
Her passions extended beyond her career and faith; she treasured gardening, finding peace and fulfillment in nurturing the earth and watching flowers bloom. Gail also loved to read, often losing herself in the pages of a good book. Fishing provided her with a sense of tranquility, as did the precious moments spent in the company of her family. She and her husband, Clea, deeply enjoyed traveling and especially delivering new motor homes and campers all across the country.
Gail was blessed with a loving family who will forever hold her memory dear. She leaves behind her daughters, Sheila Phillips Williams and Mike of Toone, and Andrea Pounds of Humboldt; her son Jerold Wilson and Jana of Finger; her sister, Jane Ellis and George of Medon; and her grandchildren, Justin Wilson and Ashley, Mikiah Wilson and Gabby, Emilee Morphis, Richard Ian Williams and Leigha, and Michael Seth Williams. Additionally, she cherished her great-grandchildren Tiffany Wilson, Millie Morphis, Esaias Morphis, Harper Wilson, Harlee Kate Williams, and Bradley Layne Williams, who brought her immeasurable joy and laughter.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Steve Sterling, her mother, Nancy Wilson Sterling, her brothers, Woodrow Sterling and Fred Sterling, her sister, Nell Rhodes, and her son, Joseph Timothy Wilson. The weight of loss is profound, as she departed this life just hours before her precious husband, leaving a heart-wrenching void for all who knew them both.
The visitation to honor Gail will be held at New Union Baptist Church in Medon, TN, on May 29, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. The church, located at New Union Loop, will serve as a gathering place for family and friends to share memories and celebrate a life that was rich with love, faith, and service.
Gail Wilson will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched, a testament to a life well-lived and loved. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to Hardeman Adoptable Animals or New Union Cemetery Fund.
