Lonnie was born September 5, 1950 to the late Roy and Beulah Wilson Brown in Hardeman County, TN, where he lived his entire life. He served in the U.S. Army, and then worked for Thyssen Krupp Elevators for 36 years. After he retired, he spent his free time hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends at Bear Creek in Alabama, which was one of his favorite places.
Lonnie was a great musician and enjoyed playing steel guitar with family and many local, talented musicians. His greatest joy was playing with the groups; Cross Country, Dakota, and Southern Pride.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three sons, Richard Matlock (Camille) of Knoxville, TN, Tony Decanter (Robin) of Corinth, MS, and Ronnie Decanter (Kati) of Ripley, MS; six grandchildren, Sidney Matlock, Josh, Jackie, and Will Decanter, Haylee and Kayla Booze; one great-grandchild, Ianna Decanter; a brother, Wayne Brown (Ann); a sister, Frances Ray; Former wife, Patricia K. Brown; special nieces, Jennifer and Madison; special nephews, Noah and Eli; and many other nieces and nephews.
Lonnie was of the Baptist faith having accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was a member at West Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Brown; two sisters, Marie Yancey and Clovis Townsend; two nephews, Chris Brown and Roger Townsend; and two nieces, Doris Britt and Cathy Allen.
