Mr. Burkeens passed away Thursday morning August 12, 2010 at his home in Bolivar.



The widower of Glada Paulette Burkeens, who died November 25, 2007 after 42 years of marriage, he was self-employed as a boat mechanic and worked at Southern Marine Company. Mr. Burkeens was born September 23, 1943 in Rose Creek to the late Drew Archie Burkeens and Ruth Cosby Burkeens and lived most of his life in McNairy and Hardeman Counties and lived in Bolivar for over 30 years.



He is survived by a daughter, Paula McAlpin of Bolivar; a son, Ronnie Burkeens of Bolivar; two sisters, Belinda Hardin of Michie and Jean Stroud of Memphis; two brothers, Hershall Burkeens of Memphis and Doyle Burkeens of Adamsville; three grandchildren, Ronnie Scott Burkeens, Blake Madley and Ashlee McAlpin; and two step-grandchildren, Chris Beard and Dakota Burkeens. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Jesse, Lolan and Gerald Burkeens; and a sister, Marie Head.
