LONNIE D. SMITH
Jackson, TN: Lonnie D. Smith age 88 passed away May 24, 2017 at his home.
He was born June 8, 1928 in Chester County, the son of the late Bunyan and Minnie Jane Brewer Smith. He graduated Chester County High School in 1946. He was married to Lenis Seratt on December 31, 1954. They made their home in Memphis, TN for seventeen years and later moved to Halls and lived there seventeen years, before moving to Jackson. Mr. Smith worked as a signal maintainer for Illinois Central Railroad for thirty-eight years retiring in 1990.
Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Linda Bridges and husband Nathan of Memphis and Lori Smith and husband Anthony of Enville; two grandchildren, Adam Bridges and Emily Bridges and one brother, James Smith of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jimmie Lenis Smith, March 29, 2017, two sisters, Hazel Jean Addington and Mary Ruth Smith and two brothers, Horace Smith and Ernest Smith.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Bro. Paul Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
