Piney Lake: Mattie Louise Archer Cherry, age 95, passed away at her home early Wednesday morning April 1, 2020.

Mrs. Cherry was born in McNairy County and grew up in Henderson, the daughter of the late Jesse and Grace Weaver Archer. She graduated from Chester County High School, Freed-Hardeman College, and attended Belmont College. She worked her entire career for the Internal Revenue Service Collection Center in Memphis as a supervisor in tax return processing. She had made her home at Piney Lake with her sister Nancy Archer for the past thirty-five years. She was a member of the Broad Street Church of Christ in Lexington.

She is survived by a son; Joseph Edward 'Joe' Cherry of Piney Lake, a sister; Nancy Archer of Piney Lake, two granddaughters; Elise Cherry and Grace Paschall and a great granddaughter, Carson Boyce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Robert Archer 'Bob' Cherry (1986), a daughter, Camise Cherry Paschall Strunk (2017), and by a son-in-law; Dennis 'Denny' Strunk; an infant brother, Ernest Archer and two sisters, Dot Dodson and Catherine Archer.

There will be a private family graveside committal at Refuge Cemetery.
