Maggie Louise Lambert, the daughter of Guy Hubert and Mamie Mae Null Lambert, was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 21, 1927. Although she lived for a while in the Southside area of the county, she eventually settled in Michie, Tennessee where she spent the majority of her life.
Lulu, as she was known to everyone, worked at several different jobs before finally becoming an employee of the Brown Shoe Company in Savannah, Tennessee, where she sewed shoes for over 30 years. For years, she would take the flowers grown by her mother and make beautiful arrangements for the Pisgah Methodist Church. Being a person who cared deeply for others, Lulu volunteered for Meals on Wheels and, despite having no children of her own, "mothered" everyone with whom she came in contact. Her many nieces and nephews were her joy and she served as the caregiver for her ailing mother for over a decade. In spite of her responsibilities at work and at home, she still found time to read and quilt. Crossword puzzles and quiz shows were also favorites of hers, giving her the opportunity to exercise her mind as she solved the puzzles and played along with the contestants.
Louise "Lulu" Lambert died February 19, 2014, at the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 29 days--just two days shy of her 87th birthday. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who loved her and will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Haskell Nolan Lambert, James Orville Lambert, and Kenneth Dee Lambert, and her sister, Peggy Ann Hannah.
Memorials may be given to the Hardin County Cancer Society, c/o Hardin County Bank, 235 Wayne Road, Savannah, TN 38372.
