Loyd Norman Howell

Loyd Norman Howell was born November 7, 1932 in Wayne County, Tennessee the son of the late Jesse Ellis (Babe) and Myrtle Laura Warren Howell. Mr. Howell departed this life Monday, December 15, 2008 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 1 Month, 8 Days. He was united in marriage to Josephine Griggs on September 24, 1954. Mr. Howell served in the U.S. Navy and spent 22 years in Romulus, Michigan as an employee of General Motors. Mr. Howell, a songwriter, singer, and musician, was a United Auto Workers member, and a deacon in the Worldwide Church of God. As a businessman, he owned Family Music Center in Waynesboro, was past director of Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, and past and present Waynesboro City Commissioner, and was presently mayor of the City of Waynesboro. He is survived by his wife Josephine (Griggs) Howell; a son, Jeffery Howell and his wife Phyllis all of Waynesboro, TN; two daughters, Vicky Howell and Pamela Howell both of Fairview, TN; two grandchildren, Kelbie and Jace Howell; sister, Shirley Butler of Waynesboro, TN A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro, Tennessee.
