Luanna Sykes

Luanna Sykes was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1955, the daughter of the late Ross Alva Bowland and Ljoy McKay.

On December 21, 1978, she was united in marriage to Gary Bruce Sykes, who survives. 

In her spare time, Luanna enjoyed painting. Most of all, she loved traveling with her husband, Gary, especially on camping trips. Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming was a particularly special place for Luanna and Gary, where they would spend many days and nights enjoying the scenery of the park. 

Luanna Sykes departed this life July 17, 2023 in Florence, Alabama, at the age of 67 years, 8 months, and 20 days.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gary Bruce Sykes of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Rachel Lynn Rops and her husband Jason of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; son; Matthew Ray Sykes of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Justin Rops, Eric Rops, Jacob Rops, and Caleb Rops; and sister, Judy Burnett of Mobile, Alabama.

In addition to her parents, Luanna was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Bowland and Ricky Bowland.
