Lucy Horn Clayton



Henderson: Virginia Lucille Horn Clayton, age 97, the widow of Joel Clayton, died Friday morning at Chester County Healthcare.



Mrs. Clayton was born and reared in Chester County, the Jacks Creek Community, the daughter of the late Calvin Patrick and Dausie Pavie Morris Horn. She graduated from Chester County High School and in 1940 married Joel Adrian Clayton and they made their home on White Avenue in Henderson. She had worked for the Ben Franklin Store in Henderson and as a seamstress at Bryant’s Men Shop. She also helped her husband in operating Service Amusement Company. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Henderson.



Mrs. Clayton was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and a brother Jimmie C. Horn. She had two nieces; Betty Morris and husband Ed of Henderson and Claudia Moore and husband Jerry of Greenfield and a nephew the late Jimmie Eugene Horn.



Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford – Casey Chapel with Dr. Roger Penn officiating and burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery,



The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 4 PM until 8 PM Saturday.
