Mrs. Lue Dell Sipes of Hornsby passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2013 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar. She was 92 years, 9 months and 21 days old.
A native of Hardeman County, Mrs. Sipes was born June 20, 1920 to the late John Pink and Pamelia Jane Newsome Sipes. On February 8, 1942, she was united in marriage to Clifford Wayne Sipes, Sr. who preceded her in death January 21, 1986. She was a graduate of Bolivar Central High School and worked as a psychiatric aid at Western Mental Health Institute prior to retirement. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed collecting teapots and tending her garden, but above all, her greatest hobby was her grandchildren. She attended Hatchie Baptist Church in Hornsby.
Survivors include three daughters, Willodean Hedrick and husband Dale of Dallas, Texas, Wanda Kruml and husband Raymond of Hornsby and Dell Ann Cossar and husband Crawford of Hornsby; a son, Clifford W. Sipes, Jr. and wife Kathy of Toone; a sister, Jewell Reid of Middleton; two brothers, Troy Sipes of Hornsby and Wade Sipes of Montezuma; twelve grandchildren, Pamela Midkiff, Lt. Col. James M. Roberts, Joel Edward Roberts, Steve Gee, Randy Gee, William Cossar, Brian Cossar, Melissa Wilson, Angela Boyd, Wendy Sisk, Lee Ann Strader and Ashley Clampitt; twenty great-grandchildren with two on the way and six great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Adron, Burrell, Thomas and Theron; and an infant sister, Thelma Sipes.
