Lura Mae White Ledbetter was born on May 20, 1923 in Lutts, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Lawrence Erwin and Hattie Mae White. She was united in marriage to Jim Ledbetter who preceded his wife in death on October 9, 1992.
Mrs. Ledbetter lived in Savannah, Tennesse and Lawrenceburg, Tennessee before moving to Florence, Alabama. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She was also a member of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club and a Rotary Ann member. Prior to retirement, Lura Mae worked assisting her husband in the Ledbetter Drug Company.
Lura Mae Ledbetter departed this life on December 1, 2016 in Florence, Alabama at the age of 93 years, 6 months, 11 days.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lee Ledbetter Dobbins and her husband Mitch, of Florence, Alabama and Sandra Rochelle Moore of Huntsville, Alabama; 2 sisters, Bonnie White Rich of Adamsville, Tennessee and Ruby White Johnson of Florence, Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Jordan Dobbins, Katie Dobbins, Harris Moore III, and Stephanie Moore Birchmore and her husband, Jeff; and 3 great-grandchildren, Harris Moore IV, Bryant Birchmore, and William Birchmore.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, James Lawrence Ledbetter; and 2 sisters, Vonnie Stanfill and Maudie Beckham.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lyman Mitchell, the Palliative Care Staff of Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, and the staff of Columbia Cottage for their love & care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
