Mr. Burnett passed away Thursday afternoon at Chester County Health Care in Henderson.
He was a native and life-long resident of Hardeman County, the son of the late Lushios Edmon Burnett, Sr. and Kayte Cooper Burnett. Mr. Burnett served his country in World War II with the U. S. Army in the South Pacific Theater. On February 9, 1947, he married Mary Avent and they have been married for 64 years. A member of the Cloverport church of Christ, he retired from Western Mental Health Institute as a vehicle mechanic. For 30 years, he operated Burnett Brothers Garage in Toone, where he also repaired watches, clocks and built furniture. On vacations, he loved to visit the Great Smoky Mountains.
In addition to his wife, Mary A. Burnett of Toone, he leaves three sons, Lushios Edmon Burnett, III and his wife, Betty, of Bartlett, TN, Michael Austin Burnett and his wife, Judy, of Bolivar, and Clayton Douglas Burnett and his wife, Debby Perkins, of Grand Junction; three daughters, Kay Burnett Qualls and her husband, David, of Fayetteville, TN, Nonie Burnett Chaudary and her husband, Shah, of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Burnett Davis and her husband, Randy, of Jackson; one brother, George Washington Burnett of Lucy, TN; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ulysus Deutroe (U. D.) Burnett of Toone.
