Mamie Blakney
Mamie Sue Counce Blakney was born July 14, 1939 in Counce, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Fred and Edith Battles Counce.
Mamie was a selfless servant that loved taking care of her family and others. On May 27, 1956 she was married to her high school sweetheart Lowell Blakney. They were married 68 years at the time of his passing last year. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Counce, Tennessee.
Mamie loved and devoted her life to raising the kids, her grandchild and great grandchildren. She had a big heart and was always there to help others in need. She was a talented artist, loved shopping, cooking and making all the holidays special. When the children were younger, she loved the camping trips at the lake and going to the beach. She volunteered at the school and helped with many events for the great grandchildren.
Mamie Blakney departed this life on December 17, 2025 in Counce, Tennessee at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 3 days.
She is survived by daughters, Angie Blakney of Counce, Tennessee and Carol Blakney of Bartlett, Tennessee; grandchild, Kesha Shelby of Counce, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Kylie Shelby, Jacey McMeans, Blakney Schwartz, Lucky Flanagan, and Ashby Flanagan; and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mamie was preceded in death by her son, William Lowell Blakney; and sister, Emma Prentiss.
