Mamie Fay Smith

Mrs. Smith died Saturday morning at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.



A native of Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Lofton and Tiney Lola Cooper Pittman. She had lived all of her life in the Fayette-Hardeman-Madison County area. On July 7, 1965, she marred Joe Cleveland Smith, who survives. A homemaker, Mrs. Smith was a very active part of the Forrest Hill Pentecostal Church where she was a member since 1980.



In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons, Jackie (Cindy) Smith of Pinson, Eddie (Martina) Smith of Huron, and Donald (Carol) Smith of Kentucky; two step-sons, Billy Smith of Texas and Bobby Smith of Henderson; one sister, Catherine Stewart of Eads; two brothers, Calvin Pittman of Somerville and Bobby "Jody" Johnson of Bemis; a daughter-in-law, Connie Cottoner of Bemis; a niece, Debbie Surratt of Middleton; seven grandchildren, Chad, Brad, Ashley, Amber, Erica, Casey and Hunter Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Khloe Butler, Parker and Chilton Smith, and Tanner Whitfield.



She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Harold Smith; a step-daughter, Judy; two sisters, Bernice Bumpas and Jenny Mae Markle; and three brothers, Prentiss, Jack and Jimmy Pittman.
