Marcus ‘Big Andy’ Murchison
Pinson, TN: Marcus Andrew Murchison, age 75, died Sunday morning May 28, 2017 at Jackson General Hospital.

Mr. Murchison was born and reared at Pinson, the son of the late A. J. (Andrew Jackson) and Reba Elizabeth Nicholson Murchison and was raised by his father and step-mother Lucille Spencer Murchison. He attended school at Pinson and Southside. He married Donna Faye Colvin and they made their home at Pinson. He entered the U. S. Army and served in Germany and Korea. After the service he worked as a fireman for the City of Jackson Fire Department at station 1 and station 4 and also was a self-employed contractor. He married Helma Roth and lived in Germany, Pinson, and Jackson. He later married Gena Ragan in 1991 and they lived at Pinson.

He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed cooking and having family and friends for hospitality. He held fish fries and prepared other meals for area businesses. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #332 in Jackson. He was a member of the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his wife Gena Ragan Murchison of Pinson, four sons; David Murchison of Paris, TN, Jimbo Murchison of Jackson, Clint Murchison of Jackson, and Joe Gurien of the U. S. Air Force stationed in Germany, two daughters; Teresa Danette Mizgala of Mancelona, MI and Raina Baumgardner of Huntingdon, three brothers; Billy Murchison of Pinson, Donald Parchman of Jackson, and Johnny Murchison of Pinson, and five sisters; Jean King of Pinson, Carolyn Nance of Pinson, Glenda Fowler of Beech Bluff, Elaine Clark of Pinson, and Gail Spain of Jackson, 20 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Donald Lance officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery at Pinson.

The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday.
