MARGARET DAVIS

Jackson, TN: Margaret Holt Davis, age 89, passed away at her home on Saturday July 11, 2026.

She was born in Henderson County on January 1, 1937, daughter of the late Clifton and Rusha Pirscilla Blakney Holt. She grew up in Beech Bluff and graduated from Beech Bluff High School in 1955.

She married Harrial Davis at the Chester County Court House on January 10, 1974. Margaret and Harrial had been married for 47 years until his passing in 2023.

Margaret worked at Oakley Garment Factory and Benedix for around 30 years.

She loved horses and going to horse shows. Believe it or not, she even liked picking weeds!

Margaret loved each of her grandchildren, some would say even more than her own children.

She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Shane Barnett (Kristin) of Brighton, TN and Roy Darrell Elder (Susie) of Jackson, TN; daughter, Deborah Garner of Jackson, TN; sister, Melba Jo Kendall and a brother, Jerry Holt; six grandchildren, Dustin Garner (Karisa), Nick Elder (Jessica), Daniel Elder (Terrie), Caitlyn Young (Nick), Morgan Barnett and Hunter Barnett; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and two brothers, Kenneth and Coy Holt.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday July 15, 2026, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue Chapel on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM service time.
