Margaret Vernon Jones

Margaret Vernon Jones of Savannah, Tennessee departed this life on March 10, 2015 at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 18 days. She was born on September 20, 1925 in Mercer, Tennessee, daughter to the late Tom and Maude Vernon. She was united in marriage to Herbert Carroll Jones on November 17, 1951, who preceded her in death on March 14, 2008.

Mrs. Jones was retired from the Union Planters Bank in Jackson, Tennessee, and was a member of the Poplar Heights Baptist Church in Jackson. Margaret grew up in the Medon community, then lived in North Jackson.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Mekisha Rose and her husband, Dennis, of Savannah, Tennessee and Billy Wayne Jones of Savannah, Tennessee; and great-grandchildren, Sara Rose, Hannah Rose, Kaitlin Jones, Tucker Jones, and Marlee Ford.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, William Herbert Jones; sisters, Clara Helton of Medon, Tennessee, Dorthea Melton of Medon, Tennessee, and Mary Emma Zink of Memphis, Tennessee; and brother, Ray Vernon.
